Profile: Benjamin Speed
Benjamin is an award winning videographer, producer, editor and graphic designer. Benjamin received his Bachelor of Arts degree in the Performing and Media Arts and has been fascinated with storytelling, whether it be on the stage or on film.
He took this passion to a professional level when he returned to Maine where he worked as a Producer for short and long-term programs for WABI-TV5 (CBS) and Maine Public Broadcasting. He has worked as a Videographer for News Production, Commercial Production, and Sports Production for UMaine Hockey and Football games as well as High School Basketball at the Bangor Auditorium.
Portraits is an award winning series that Benjamin created, produced and shot for WABI-TV5. This biographical look at influential people in the state of Maine has followed such individuals as Governor John Baldacci, UMaine Hockey Coach Tim Whitehead and the Ciomei’s, a lobster fishing family from Stonington. The show follows these individuals for 2 days and asks the simple question: “How would you like to be remembered?”.
Benjamin continues his love for the moving image as an educator, working with high school students in Ellsworth in Video Production and Screenwriting. He produces short films, designs websites and loves spending time with his wife and son in beautiful Downeast, Maine.
